Tile and Grout Cleaning Services by Dryzabone

Here are some common questions that our customers ask.

Grout, which is typically made from cementitious materials, is highly porous and absorbs water, oils, and stains easily. Sealing grout helps prevent discoloration, cracking, and the growth of bacteria. Some types of tile (like natural stone) are also porous and benefit from sealing, whereas most glazed ceramic and porcelain tiles don't need to be sealed.

The frequency depends on the type of sealant used, the amount of traffic the area receives, and environmental factors such as humidity. Generally, grout should be sealed every 1-3 years. Natural stone tiles may also require resealing within the same timeframe.

Most penetrating sealers are designed to be invisible and will not change the colour or sheen of your tiles or grout. Some topical sealers, however, can enhance colours or add a glossy finish. Always discuss your preferences with your service provider beforehand.
